Read Pacific Dash as soon as it came out and found it fascinating. I am a fan of nonfiction with a few books of my own under my belt, but Nairene almost made me forget he was writing a novel. You could tell this was not Edgar’s Rice Boroughs who had never visited Africa but a writer who knew the territory and its people. Thank you for letting us get to know this up and coming author.

Thanks for the feedback Roy, Chet certainly packs some really great yarns into his debut novel!

A very enjoyable read and the book sounds like a true ripping yarn steeped in Asian adventure. Have to agree with comments on PT, though I'm also a big fan of the late Gavin Young. Love the lunch photo with Anson Chan by the way, that must have been quite a moment !

Shame on me, but I hadn't heard of Gavin Young - just read up a bit on him. What books of his would you recommend? I see he wrote an official history for Cathay Pacific (Beyond Lion Rock).

I think all his books are a good read Simon though 'Beyond Lion Rock' is certainly worth a go, also those travel staples 'Slow Boats to China' and the follow up 'Slow Boats Home'. One of my favourites is 'In Search of Conrad', mostly set in Asia, though it helps if you are a fan of Joseph Conrad.
