For almost its entire lifespan Hong Kong has been a city caught between two worlds, colonial and Chinese, but - at least in terms of built heritage - the past is losing out
Amazing photo of your mum and Nick, lots of memory lane flashbacks I imagine. Whatever happened to the infamous football club? Tony used to be a regular if I remember correctly.
Yeah a great photo with the HSBC building in the background. There were actually two Hong Kong Football Clubs (HKFC): the first one was in a group of rundown but charming buildings with an attached stadium with concrete benches (which I remember fondly), then they moved to nearby fancy new digs to allow for the racecourse to be extended (the Jockey Club paid for the entire move). While we stayed members, I never really liked the new location. It was too flashy and hotel like, and the membership changed accordingly.
Bittersweet …
As a friend said, we can't overly dwell on the past, but memories make us who we are.
Wise friend.

Take care, cheers Mark
