Who is Simon Ostheimer?
Well, my name is Simon Ostheimer, and I’ve been writing travel stories about Asia for the last 15 or so years. I grew up in Hong Kong where I was a permanent resident (and so classify myself as a British Hongkonger), but since 2004 have been living in and writing about other countries across Asia. Besides HK, the list of Asian abodes so far reads: Suzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Phuket, and Phnom Penh.
So you’re a travel writer?
Yes that’s right, I’ve written for a multitude of travel guidebooks and magazines (see the full list below), some of which may not even still be in print. A little while ago I decided that it was about time to start writing for myself (although if any editors are reading this, I’m always open to new commissions!), and so started this Substack.
